GUNDOG WORKING TESTS
 
ELIGIBILITY:
NOVICE for Gundogs that have not previously qualified 3 times in, or won two Novice Gundog Working Tests or hold a retrieving title.
 
 
OPEN for Gundogs that have qualified 3 times in, or won a Novice Gundog Working Test.
 
To attain a qualifying score in Gundog Working Test, a dog must receive at least 50% in each exercise and an overall score of not less than 75%.
 
In both Novice and Open, handler may control dog by whistle, voice, or hand signal. All dogs must do exercises with leads and collars removed. The work in Gundog Working Tests should relate to work in Retrieving & Field Trials and so where there is any doubt then the Rules for these types of Trials should be used as a guide.
 
GUNDOG: Includes all registered Gundog Breeds.
 
GAME: Pigeon or Dummy.
Pigeons shall be provided by the Club conducting the event. Dummies shall be provided by the HANDLER and must be approved by the Judge prior to judging. Test to be conducted on Game or Dummies but NOT BOTH.
The schedule to specify.
Dummies should be made of a soft material i.e. Canvas and be of subdued colour.
 
In the case of a “tied “score all exercises must be repeated. A “count back” is not permitted.
 
A competing dog fouling the area in which the tests are being conducted shall be deducted five (5) points.
 
Dogs may “sit”, “down”, or “stand” so long as they obey the given command of their handler.
 
All movements will be on order from the Judge. A copy of the Rules & Eligibilities with judging sheets, shall be supplied to the Judge by the Club conducting the Tests.
 
 
 
 
NOVICE TEST:
For Gundogs that have not previously qualified 3 times in or won 2 Novice Gundog Working Tests.
 
Exercise 1. 
Dog to Walk at heel for 30 metres (15 points).
Exercise 2. 
Dog put on STAND, DROP OR SIT position. HANDLER to walk away 30 metres. Turn about and face dog, then when instructed by Judge, call dog to hand (20 points).
 
Exercise 3. 
Dog put on STAND, DROP OR SIT & remain in that position for ONE MINUTE. Handler to walk away at least 30 metres, turn about & face dog. Then call dog to hand. (30 points)
 
Exercise 4. 
ALL DOGS to be sent out for a single MARK RETRIEVE of approx 50 metres      (35 points)
 
 
OPEN TEST:
For Gundogs that have qualified 3 times in, or WON a Novice Gundog Test.
 
Exercise 1. 
Dog to walk at heel for 30 metres (15 points)
Exercise 2. 
Dog put on STAND, DROP OR SIT position. HANDLER to walk away 30 metres. Turn about & face dog, then when instructed by Judge, call dog to hand    (15 points)
Exercise 3. 
Dog put on STAND, DROP OR SIT and is required to remain in that position for ONE MINUTE. Handler to walk away at least 30 metres, turn about and face dog. Handler to call dog & put on STAND, DROP OR SIT when requested by the Judge. Then call dog to hand    (30 points)
Exercise 4. 
ALL DOGS to complete a DOUBLE RISE, second object to be thrown while dog is returning with first  (25 points)
 
Exercise 5. 
ALL DOGS to be sent out for a SINGLE BLIND. Distance to be a minimum of 40 metres. This retrieve should not be in the same area as Exercise 4                                         15 points
